Iceland
Iceland is perhaps the perfect destination for a school geography tour. The “Land of Fire and Ice” has an extensive range of waterfalls, glaciers and geothermal phenomena. Iceland lies on the boundaries between two tectonic plates and the combination of volcanism, plate tectonics, geothermal activity and glaciation makes it the perfect environment for a school geography trip.
On arrival, your geography group will explore the volcanism and geothermal activity on the Reykjanes Peninsula before stopping off at the Bridge Between Two Continents where you can see evidence of tectonic movement. We finish the first day at the instantly recognisable Blue Lagoon, one of the most famous attractions in Iceland.
The classic full-day Golden Circle Tour visits the Mid-Atlantic ridge, provides the opportunity to see Strokkur erupting every few minutes before continuing on to the huge triple-drop waterfall at Gullfoss, one of the most popular and recognisable attractions in Iceland.
The South Shore full-day tour visits the two spectacular waterfalls at Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. We then continue to the Solheimajokull Glacier, with the option of adding on a Glacier walk, before finishing at the extensive black sand beach at Reynishverfi
