  The “First Snow School Ski Racing Championships” 2024 event will once again be held in Les Menuires, France, part of the world’s largest ski area, Les 3 Vallées.

  Well-connected to the busier Val Thorens and Meribel, school groups will be able to enjoy a full range of pistes as they explore the mountains the day following the races.

  The races will be staged at the Stade de Slalom Olympique which has recently hosted the French downhill ski championships. The great advantage of this FIS-certified facility is the technology at hand to accurately record and simultaneously announce race times to eager competitors as they finish. The organisation of the races is completely smooth and precise with times appearing on the big screen as they happen.

Resort facts

FIS approved racing stadium, fully secured venue, state-of-the-art timing board, and located just above the resort with its own snow-making system. Exclusive use of ski in/ski out 4-star hotel accommodation with easy access to the slopes & the racing venue with a hot lunch break every day. Less exposed than a glacier which minimises cancellation risks.

Race Information

The Visions “First Snow” Ski Races in partnership with ESI Meribel is a great opportunity for some early season racing for any keen racers, and also a great introduction to racing for anyone looking to give it a go or just get into the sport. The Visions First Snow Ski Races in partnership with ESI Meribel provides the perfect opportunity for pre-Christmas skiing at this well-established resort.

Guillaume Marchant is a seasoned organiser of ski events for young people, having helped to build up the ISSC event over 12 years. He manages a team of awesome instructors who will be working with us in December, providing instruction for the school ski racing teams.

Seasoned racers are welcome, and the new "future racers" section, with dedicated programme and races, is an option for less experienced ski ability students.

The ski race categories are as follows: Individual Slalom, Team Parallel Slalom, Giant Slalom

The Championships run for 6 nights with 5 days of skiing. The event closes with a prize-giving ceremony.

ESI’s ski instructors are attentive and informative. They are on hand during the races with coaching points.

If your students are aged 8-18 and would love to race against age-matched competition on the ski slopes, then First Snow Ski Races is just the ticket.

The event is run for Boys, Girls and Juniors and features giant slalom and slalom events (with team and individual prizes), as well as Seniors and Juniors parallel team slalom.

Sample Accommodation

• Villages Clubs du Soleil

  All our school groups will all stay at the Villages Clubs du Soleil hotel. The 4-star hotel, which boasts stunning views over the valley, opens exclusively for us at the beginning of the ski season, and it is adjacent to the Stade de Slalom Olympique. A hot meal for lunch is provided each day. Ski fit is in the hotel and warm lockers are assigned to specific schools for the safe storage of all ski equipment. There is also free wifi.
