Serre Chevalier is a superb valley that begins at the Lautaret and Galibier passes and ends more than 20 km further in Briançon, Europe’s highest city. A flagship resort in the Hautes Alpes, Serre Chevalier is made up of 4 villages that have managed to keep their mountain soul. The resort is known for its exceptional sunshine and its azure, blue sky.
The resort has a variety of slopes, including beginner areas, longer greens, and areas for intermediate and expert skiers. A total of 80 kilometres of slopes are covered by snow cannons to supplement natural snowfall. The resort invested in a new beginner’s area in 2024 and now features a 150m long covered magic carpet lift.
School groups have the option of flying into Grenoble (1.5-hour transfer from airport) or the resort is easily reachable by coach (13 hours from Calais).
Resort facts
With over 250km of slopes, Serre Chevalier is one of the largest ski resorts in Europe. The variety of slopes and levels offers everyone the opportunity to fully enjoy their school ski trip. It’s a fun resort with many facilities including a Snow Park and toboggan runs that add many thrills to your week.

The area gives visitors a massive 250kms of linked pistes and terrain as well as access to a huge cross-country area and a boardercross zone with banks and slaloms. Next to Villeneuve is the Snowpark which is a designated freestyle area. For advanced skiers, there is the Olympic Luc Alphand black run which is extremely fast.

La Louviere

Perched at the top of a quiet and authentic semi-pedestrian hamlet, this centre offers school groups an exceptional panorama of the Serre-Chevalier valley in the Alps.
There are Two adjoining buildings with 50 bed each. Building A has rooms with 4 to 8 beds equipped with ensuite bathrooms. Building B: rooms with 2 to 8 beds, some of which have ensuite bathrooms.
Facilities include a bar area, 2 x Restaurants serving hot food canteen style and a games room.
