Join us in Miami to kick off this brilliant 6-day Marine Biology & Oceanography tour then travel to the Keys to discover the protected environments of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Everglades National Park and more. With expert-led snorkel sessions, pupils will learn about marine habitats through snorkel trips allowing for ecological concepts and observation of marine creatures in their natural habitats. Also included are laboratory workshops and classroom lectures. Cap it off with an afternoon getting to know dolphins and you're set for an experience like no other. Lodging is in dorm-type facilities and all meals are included.
We offer two different marine trip locations – one in Key Largo and the other just off of Marathon Key. Both sites offer easy access to seagrass, mangroves, and the only bank coral reef off the continental United States. Through hands on investigation and snorkels, preceded by biologist and ecologist-led discussions focusing on these unique sea communities, students and staff alike learn through adventure. Most schedules consist of labs and lectures in the evening and snorkel field trips by day.
Levels of instruction are variable dependent upon the age of the student group. Core curriculum consists of seagrass ecology, mangrove ecology and coral reef ecology; with special courses offered to add diverse curriculum such as hardbottom and coralline algae ecology and Everglades hydrology.
