  A school classics trip to the Bay of Naples allows students to study city life in Roman Italy with visits to Pompeii and Herculaneum and offers a range of interesting visits linked to Greek and Roman ancient history.

  From the nearby Roman city of Pompeii and the wealthy holiday resort of Herculaneum to the three Doric Greek Temples of Paestum that stand amongst the best preserved in the world, there’s so much to explore on a school classics trip to the Bay of Naples.

  The tour is unique in that it can be very easily adapted to a cross-curricular trip to also suit the requirements of Geography and Food technology students alike.

Sample Accommodation

Our carefully selected hotels are located in Sorrento and Piano di Sorrento. Overlooking Marina Grande, the original Greek Harbour, Sorrento is now a pretty fishing port approached via the Roman Arch laid on Greek foundations.

• Hotel La Ripetta

  A family run hotel located in nearby Piano di Sorrento. The nearest train station for the Circumvesuviana is just 800 metres away. The town centre is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Students will be accommodated in triple or quadruple rooms with accompanying teachers in single rooms. All rooms have private bathrooms and evening meals are served in the on-site restaurant.

• Hotel Klein Wein

  A 3-star hotel overlooking the sea enjoying panoramic views of the Sorrentine peninsula. Students will be accommodated in triple or quadruple rooms with accompanying teachers in single rooms. All rooms have private bathrooms and there is free Wi-fi throughout the hotel. Evening meals are served in the on-site restaurant.
